Murad at City Hall
May
The Mayoral and Assembly elections took place on the 3rd of May. I am delighted to have received the support of both my fellow colleagues and Londoners trust in what the Labour Group can achieve for them over the next four years.
The next four years will be tough, the programme of cuts will begin to bite even more and there is a lot of work to do to improve the quality of Londoner's lives who are struggling to keep up with the cost of living. Shortages in affordable housing, high rents, declining police numbers and an increasingly over crowded transport network are all vital issues which affect Londoner's lives and must be addressed. My colleagues on the London Assembly and I will continue to hold the Mayor to account on all these issues and more.
There is also the ongoing concern about poor air quality in London and around the UK's second most polluted hotspot, Heathrow. The arguments over airport expansion may rumble on, however, the Mayor has to get serious about reducing air pollution and improving the quality of lives and life expectancy for Londoners. This is an issue which won't go away and which I will continue to campaign on.
Lastly, I want to hear from you about any of these issues, how they affect you or about any other local and Londonwide issues. so please do feel free to contact me by clicking on the contact tab above and emailing me.
I look forward to serving London for another term.
Thank you for your support
